Keto Mince Tarts

This is a classic recipe and is probably one that you would never have thought would fit on the keto diet. This lovely keto mind recipe can be made for a party, a holiday or just for meals!


  •         1 C sugar free dried cranberries
  •         ½ C walnuts chopped up
  •         ½ C keto sweetener of choice
  •         1 small apple chopped up fine
  •         ¼ C golden raisins chopped
  •         ¼ C coconut oil
  •         Zest of one lemon
  •         Zest of one orange
  •         2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  •         2 tbsp water
  •         1 tsp cinnamon
  •         2 tsp molasses
  •         ¼ tsp ground ginger
  •         ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  •         3 tbsp brandy
  •         ¼ tsp ground cloves

For the Crust

  •         1 ¼ C almond flour
  •         2 tbsp keto sweetener of choice
  •         2 tbsp gluten free flour
  •         1 tsp xantham gum
  •         2 tbsp arrowroot starch
  •         ¼ tsp salt
  •         5 tbsp butter
  •         2-4 tbsp ice water

For the sauce:

  •         ¼ C softened butter
  •         ¾ C keto sweetener of choice, powdered
  •         1 tbsp dark rum of choice


  1.       Mix together cranberries, walnuts, sweetener, apple, raisins, coconut oil ,lemon zest and orange zest, lemon juice, molasses, water, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and cloves.
  2.       Pour into saucepan and heat over medium high heat.
  3.       Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring frequently.
  4.       Remove from heat and add in brandy.
  5.       Allow to cool.
  6.       Move to a refrigerator safe container and cool.
  7.       For the crust, combine the almond flour, the gluten-free flour, the sweetener, the arrowroot, the coconut flour, the xantham gum and the salt in a food processor.
  8.       Once blended to a crumb-like texture, sprinkle in butter and mix.
  9.       Add 1 tbsp ice water at a time until a dough forms.
  10.       Cover a cutting board or counter surface with parchment paper and sprinkle with almond flour.
  11.       Put dough onto floured surface. Sprinkle with some more flour.
  12.       Cover with another piece of parchment paper.
  13.       Roll out until you can make a circle about 1m inches in diameter.
  14.       Cut out rounds from the dough with a round cookie cutter. Should be about 2.5 inches around.
  15.       Lightly grease mini muffin tin.
  16.       Fit dough circles into the muffin cups.
  17.       Use up all the dough you have left to roll out again for tops for the tarts.
  18.       Prick bottom of the tarts.
  19.       Freeze one hour.
  20.       Heat oven the 325.
  21.       Fill tarts with the mincemeat mix you made earlier. You need about 2 tsp each. Cover with left over topping dough.
  22.       Bake until starting to brown at the edges and bubble.
  23.       Take out of oven and cool for a half hour.
  24.       Mix sauce ingredients in a bowl.
  25.       Put in fridge while tarts cool.
  26.       When ready to serve, remove the sauce from the fridge and place a dollop onto each tart.
  27.       Enjoy!

  •         500 g ground lamb or ground beef
  •         1 small minced up onion
  •         1 minced carrot
  •         ½ tsp pepper
  •         1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  •         1 tbsp tomato paste
  •         ½ tsp salt
  •         1 tbsp garam masala

Cauliflower mash:

  •         1 head cauliflower cut into floret
  •         1 tbsp butter
  •         2 egg yolks
  •         ½ C grated Parmesan


  1.       Heat oven to 400 degrees.
  2.       Heat up a saucepan over medium heat.
  3.       Add meat and carrot and onion to the pan and cook for 5 minutes.
  4.       Add salt, pepper, garam masala, tomato paste and Worcestershire.
  5.       Cook another 10 minutes.
  6.       Sauce should be thicker at this point.
  7.       Remove from pan and save.
  8.       Boil cauliflower on high heat for 10 minutes. Drain.
  9.       Let cool for a few minutes.
  10.       Add cauliflower, egg yolks, butter and Parmesan to a blender.
  11.       Blend until smooth.
  12.       Spread meat out into oven safe dish or pan.
  13.       Scoop mash mix out onto the top and smooth.
  14.       Bake for 15 to 20 minutes.
  15.       Let rest 10 minutes before serving.
  16.       Enjoy!
